Benefits of Tire Flipping
Tire Flipping Muscles Worked
Tire flipping is an effective way to target the posterior chain, including the hamstrings, lower back, and glutes, muscles similar to those used in a deadlift. Strengthening these areas is especially helpful for people who spend long periods sitting, since these muscles can become underutilized. Beyond the posterior chain, tire flipping functions as a whole-body exercise, engaging multiple muscle groups to improve overall strength and endurance. Research has noted that tire flipping produces a high metabolic output, making it an efficient, full-body conditioning option.
How to Perform a Tire Flip
Begin with a lighter tire to learn proper form. Squat down with your weight in your heels, keeping your arms outside your legs, and scoop your hands under the tire for a secure grip. Drive up to standing using your legs in a movement like a squat, lean your chest toward the tire while maintaining a straight back and neutral spine, then finish the motion by thrusting your hips forward and using your upper body to push the tire over. Practicing this sequence builds strength while enhancing coordination and balance.
Burning Calories with Tire Flips
Tire flipping can be more engaging when done with a partner, taking turns flipping the tire adds a social and competitive element to the workout. The exercise is also effective for burning a substantial number of calories. If you’re interested in other unconventional or fun alternatives to traditional weightlifting, I have several suggestions. Let me know, and I’ll share more ideas.
