A short answer

Recently I was asked “Why would you use Kettlebells during workouts?” My short answer is “For something different” 😊.

How kettlebell mechanics differ from dumbbells

Unlike dumbbells, which have symmetrical mass on each side of the weight, kettlebells have an off-center mass below their handle. That design challenges coordination and motor control and works targeted muscles through a wider range of motion, helping develop joint stability and improve mobility.

Identifying and correcting movement problems

Kettlebell exercises often reveal and help correct misalignments, compensations, asymmetries, and weaknesses in the body, which can relieve muscle stiffness and reduce joint pain. The Physical Therapist in me loves this!!

Strength and cardio in a single session

Kettlebell training can bridge strength work and high-intensity cardio, providing an overall full-body workout. You build muscle, increase power endurance, and get lean while training, combining elements of both cardio and strength approaches to improve overall fitness. This is key whether you are wanting to gain muscle, lose fat or both! 👊🏻

Carryover to daily activities and chronic pain management

If you have chronic pain, whether in your shoulder, low back, hip, knee, or ankle, kettlebell exercises can help retrain movement patterns so you move more correctly. The kettlebell handle mimics many objects used in everyday life: door handles, backpacks, shopping carts and other objects you lift, pull, or push. Training with kettlebells translates to improved function in daily tasks and can be an effective method for restoring body mechanics and function. Again, Physical Therapist me loves this!!! 💯

My practice and recommendation

These are a few of my favorite kettlebell facts and there are lots more. I use them in my own training and with my clients. Have you tried them? I highly recommend!

LMK if you have questions or need help in any way! I got you!! 👊🏻👊🏻.
